While I realize most people like to keep there hunting spots secret, we have had limited sucess quail hunting the last couple of seasons. I live in Mesa and hunted Bulldog Canyon, near 4 peaks and also a few areas in Pinal County. I am really looking to bag some quail. Any help on sweet spots would be appreciated.
Or you can go up the old Florence/Kelvin hwy just outside of Florence heading towards Kearney to the hackleberry and ripsey wash areas that would be around the A Diamond ranch.
A long time ago when I was stationed at a AFB that is now closed, (Williams )I used to go to their rec. site on canyon lake. Lots of quail and no people, but that was back in the 70s, for all I know the lake may not even still be there. Its is up past tortilla flats.
I wish I could be more specific (I was a kid) but growing up we used to go on BLM land out by Wikieup. Always seemed to get our limit. My uncle tought us that you could tell how large the hatch was going to be by some plant he called horney weed. Don't laugh. That's what he called it. I think it was God's way of regulating the number of quail for the food that would be available.
