My view on this, though simple---is this. If it does sunset, what will change? Not one thing. States will do as they do and the federal law will mean nothing. Example: California:
You still will not be able to own anything new, as they have their own ban concerning assualt rifles and high capacity magazines.
So do many other states, and the ones that don`t---will either revisit changing their laws or let them remain. Lot a hoopla bout nothing.
Well, we just struck a major blow for gun rights by voting down the proposed AWB here in Maryland. It never got out of committee. This billl was being watched by a lot of gun-grabbers in other states so they could start a bill of their oun. NEVER GIVE UP THE FIGHT. We don't have right-to-carry yet, but we served notice that the gun owners of Maryland want their rights and are willing to fight for them.
This past weekend there was a gun show in nearby Frederick. My brother and I attended and the place was just overrun with people. All three building were packed to the point where it was difficult to walk. Seems like the buy of the weekend was an SKS for right around $100 and sales were booming. Nothing like an attempted gun grab to jack up sales. We have a fellow who heads a PAC and publishes a newsletter called "The Tripwire". The editor keeps everyone well informed of what is going on. One of the best things he does is to have an ongoing raffle sponsored by Fulton Arms in nearby Savage, Maryland. The proceeds from each raffle go to the PAC warchest to be used to defeat our gungrabbing politicIans. Five bucks a ticket for a chance at an AR-15, M-1 Carbine or M-14 are the prizes generally offered. Defeat a gungrabber and maybe win an evil assualt weapon at the same time, IT JUST DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER.
