Can anyone give me advice on the Auto Ordnance 45's. Are they any good ? if not, has Kahr improved them since taking over the production ?

    Scott,

They haven't in the past been made very well, none
of them will interchange parts with a Colt without
some grinding and fitting, in fact no two AA pistols
    will even interchange parts!

I don't know if car has improved them, from what
I hear they are still the same as before.

There are better choices out there. Colt, Kimber, Springfield, etc.

If you're looking for a basic '11A1 at a low price, try one of the arsenal refurbished Argintine Systema Modelo 1927s.

Decided on the Springfield by reading information here. Purchased it through Gunsamerica.com. I just picked up a Colt Government Model, series 80. I'm on a roll !! Friends of mine who own a gun shop are becoming Kimber dealers. I think that's next.

They were good buys before when they were inexpesive. Now they cost more. I had one for over 12 years and never had issues with it. Heck I liked it a lot.

    Welcome Aboard TheGreatSantini!

You probably had one of the older models however,
quality went way down over the years and even so,
none of their pistols(even yours)will not have identical
interchangeable parts as all AO firearms are hand finished
    and fit.

    tac401.
Yea if I recall it was in the first 1000 maybe under a 1000 serial number. I loved the bluing it had and with the PMC ball ammo (cammo boxes) it would shoot one big ragged hole until it had no more paper in the "10" ring and would just go through the hole.
I did have to replace the sights with some Millett sights when the front sight that popped off after several thousand rounds. Also had the frame hard chromed for that two tone look.

Yeah TGS, they were fine pistols in the early production
days, at that time they had a very high standard of quality
control and some of the best builders in the business. I
sure did like that PMC in the camo boxes too, I still have
some boxes in 06 ball ammo, it always shot well. If Kahr
would significantly raise the standard of quality control
on these pistols then I'd say that they sure would give
the other companies a run for their money and more
high quality competition helps to keep prices stablized.
