I've inherited a Baby Browning .25. Excellent condition, still in the original box. It has the chrome slide, pearl grips and what appears to be a gold plated trigger. On the left side of the slide is "Browning Arms Company_St. Louis, Missouri". Underneath that is "Made In Belgium". The serial no. is 133375 and underneath that is stamped a large "S".
Any ideas on the age and value?

    Thanks,
    arnold

It's definitely pre 1968. Almost all the ones in the US are. I have SN 4222XX. You have the lightweight model, which is considerably rarer than the all steel standard model. These are considered one of the finest .25 autos made. The "S" is not part of the serial number-it means the gun is "safe" when it is visible.
Value in like new condition is $400+.

    limited production factory lightwieght model

    simulated / synthetic pearl grips...

nice gun, value skyrockets if condition is better than 95%

    best regards, mike.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back, been out of town for a few days. Thanks for the info. This pistol belonged to my father and I had only seen it a few times. He passed away when I was a teenager, and my mother gave it to me on my 51st birthday. I hadn't seen it for at least 20 years. It's been kept in it's box and hidden for as long as I can remember.
The only thing that I've found is that the grips are cracked from the screw holes and won't tighten completely. Can a set of these grips be ordered from the Browning Co.?

    Thanks,
    arnold

(I've also inherited a couple of shotguns that I'll have to look at. I'll post some questions about those too.)

Replacement grips are probably no longer available from Browning. I checked in the 1980s and the grips were $57 EACH!
I can make you a set, but they won't be a lot cheaper than the factory grips.
Aftermarket grips are available, as are the black plastic grips. Some of them look pretty good. To get exact replacements I'm the only source that I know of-and I'm not real excited about making any!
Whatever you do- save the old grips, screw, and escutchion.
