A friend of mine has a Benjamin Franklin 317 pump air pellet rifle with a brass barrel. It has no serial number and was given to him by his father in 1944. He says his father bought it in 1934. I haven't found anything that refers to it on line. One reference mentioned that serial numbers were started in 1950 something. Can anyone tell me more about it and what it is worth?

Thanks for the reference, but it still doesn't go back far enough. Any suggestions out there of who might know more on a pre 1950's Benjamin Franklin 317 with a brass barrel and no serial numbers? Thanks for any help.
