Alright, somebody clear this one up for me.
I usually hear of the German 109 described as an Me-109, but sometimes it's called a Bf-109.I think the Me refers to Messchersmitt (sp?) but what does Bf refer to and which is the correct designation?

Me109 and BF109 designations were used for the fighter.
The BF stands for Bayerische Flugzeugwerke (Bavarian Aircraft Company) who was awarded the contract to produce the fighter, howewever, in 1938 the company was reorganized as Messerschmitt A.G.
