That is so sad. They need to find a true church where God is and not a showing off place.

That is just crazy! I suppose racism is still alive, and well in some places! The best man at my wedding is a Jewish friend. I'm sure glad that the church didn't ban him because of his race!

I saw it on the news.Just frys my a.. in so many ways i dont know where to start. So in sticking with my not judging or hating i'll just say they are wrong. She's better off in another church , one like skullfr, said not a showing off place.

I'm thinking it might be age discrimination. The groom looks a bit older than the bride. Some people down here are biased about that. They look like a perfect match to me.

Could be more here than race.

Disgraceful that those claiming to be followers of Christ would treat His children so shamefully. Members of that church are in serious need of repentance.

Maybe they didn't do the offering for the mass.

Just dont seem right for a priest to deny you of a wedding. In this day even if you are racist you cant just deny someone this. Once word gets out your gonna have heck to pay.

Something just dont sound right. I got a feeling we dont have the full story.

I wonder if these 2 are kin some kinda way.

From what I interpret from the article The pastor caved in to demands from some of the congregation. Its plain that God is not at work in that church.

If the story is correct and it was denied due to race that's not right. Just more fuel to feed the fire. I had one of my good friends at my wedding. He was black. We had it in an Italian restaurant in little Italy in Chicago. I latter learned that no black had ever been in the restaurant before.

This black man helped me out when no one else would. If he called me today for anything I would be there for him. Racialism is crap.

Jedwil, Cycloneman, you might be right in that the news did not get the full story (Perish the thought!)

Some years ago, a lady we knew asked me to marry her and her fiancé', who was a soldier.
I could not explain WHY, I could not give her a reason, but I just knew down deep that I should NOT perform this ceremony. I graciously declined, but agreed to let them use Bethany Church for the ceremony, provided she got someone else to perform it.
She enlisted the services of a lady preacher whom I had not met, and the wedding was performed.

About a month later, I was in my pajamas and robe when a vehicle pulled up into the yard in the evening. All I could see was the headlights, and not knowing who it was, I picked up my .44 mag and tucked it into the belt front of my robe, flipped on the outside light, and stepped out the door just in time to see a young deputy walking toward the house from his squad car. He had a summons in his hand, and he asked "Are you Terry Trainor?" I allowed that I was.
He looked at the summons again, looked at the hog-leg in my belt and said "The REVEREND Terry Trainor?" Again, I allowed that I was, and he gave me the summons to appear as a witness in a case involving this lady.
I appeared in court at the appointed time to discover that this lady's HUSBAND was suing her for bigamy. It seems she was already married to someone else when she asked me to marry her to this soldier.

So - MAYBE - there may be some unstated and possibly unknown reason this pastor did not want to marry this couple - -

Priests Padres, ministers been telling folks no for years . some say get a few months counselling first , some laugh ..

now if its purely on race , the minister needs a slap .. if not .. let him say why not ..

    until then i'm reserving judgement

Baptist ministers are "called" not sent. Which means his tenure at that church was dependent on the congregation approval. I'm sure the bigots in the church reminded him of that. So that his reversal was based partially on his need for a paycheck.

Too bad he lacked the courage of his convictions. Or maybe he didn't...

Regardless, the Minister is there in the capacity of a 'leader' in the ways of Christianity, and that AIN'T the way.
He failed God, and it is HE who should repent.

It is also plain that the pastor has failed to lead his flock.
