Been feeling a slight vibration for a couple of weeks like a tire out of balance. Went to the tire store to rebalance tire and rotate them. Did not fix the prtoblem. Yesterday it got worse to the point i thougt i blew out a tire. Immed got worse and it was like a monster was beating the bottom of the truck with a sledgehammer. Then it even got worse like the driveshaft was cut loose at the back of the transmission and i was driving it into the concrete.

Oh yea i was on a bridge with no shoulders on either side. Had to make it to a cross over.

    The transfer case was shattered.

I dont think i heard anything that sounded like a chain. it was definatly heavy duty ripping of gears.

Well, if its a chain drive I would try and go back with a gear drive. They are much better in my opinion. What year is the truck? Was it out of oil?

No it was not out of oil. Pleanty of oil all over the causeway and on the auto shops floor. I hear that is a problem when they get bone dry. Not here something else happened.

I just got a call and a new one from ford and installed by my mechanic is 1685.00

That sucks, but it's a lot cheaper than a new truck.

I'd google Pull-A-Part to see if there's one in your area. You can get a transfer case for less than $100 with a warranty. They're not that hard to replace.

go ahead highboy, harass me. I know you want to.

a blown T case is pretty rare for our shop. even more rare for a borg warner.
