Got a Browning Auto 5 and I'm trying to figure out when it was made.
Serial # is H 33492
It says that Browning started using H in 1954 starting with serial 39000. Can anyone shed some light on this?
The following is from the online Blue Book of Gun Values, Serialization Section. I don't know why is says Browning added the alpha prefix in 1954 and then shows it done in 1953.
I would say yours was made in 1954.
A-5 (AUTOMATIC 5) SHOTGUN -12 ga
In 1954 Browning added an alpha prefix to the serial
number to differentiate between Lightweight and
Standardweight guns.
Thanks Gun Hugger - It is my favorite to shoot. I didn't realize it was that old.
