Hi all. New to the forum. Has anyone else got a Browning Challenger III? I just got a 1983 6 3/4 barreled model about 3 weeks ago. I cannot find much about them on any of the forums. Mine is about 90% conditions and came with 5 magazines. I stole it for $200.00. I don't know how to post pictures yet or I would. Any help?

I just picked up a Challenger 2 last week. It is in excellent shape and the wood grip really sets it off. It has a well balanced feel. I just picked up a spare mag from www.ammoclip.com. I've checked around on some other websites and it appears this model prefers the Blazer ammo.

I bought a challenger 3 this year - looks great on the outside - demolished on the inside - I am in Canada and parts are nearly non-existent . There are a few places you can get parts from what I have researched. I order magazines from triple k http://www.triplek.com in San Diego. They arrived and appear to be an exact match and even appear better than the original. Once I am able to use them in a firearm that works I will know if they are good enough! If you are in the USA you can get parts from

    Midwest gun works http://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi
    numrich http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Manufacturers/Browning-33164/AutoPistols-35558/ChallengerIII-34875.htm
    midway http://www.midwayusa.com/find?sortby=1&itemsperpage=24&newcategorydimensionid=18400
    commemorative arms http://www.commemorativearms.com/22caliberpage1.htm

Numrich will ship to Canada - the mags from triple k will ship to Canada

Even though this is an old post I am sure others will find the info useful - I bought this firearm because it looked nice - or as one of the experienced club guys said "they washed the car before they sold it to you right?" - however - it shoots straight as a die - a great gun - when it works - I have it out for repairs now and some fabricated parts. Hoping for the best to keep it going.

Another three year old thread dragged out of retirement..

Pegleg, you might want to start a new thread.

Thanks for your valuable insight. I thought after seeing squat on this firearm even on an old thread, that I may assist others who are in the same boat as I am with this firearm. Just trying to be helpful - old thread or not. I am sure someone will find it useful - even though you don't. Thanks for welcoming me to this forum on my very first post.

You're welcome and you are welcome. I was trying to point out that you might want to start a new thread for your info. There have been a lot of old threads dragged up over the past week or so and quite a few people will not look at old stuff!
