Some may think this is a dumb question but is the Browning Hi-Power, in either 9mm or .40 calibre, considered to be a 9/.40 member of the 1911 family?

I would appear to me to be similar in most respects.

Marlin, the Hi-Power was designed by John Moses Browning.

    The similarities stop there.

That's what I was looking for, Shooter!

There had been a raging discussion going on back in the Heart of Dixie on this subject.

Just pick up a HP and a 1911 and you'll know pretty quick they're quite different (though both very good).
