I have a browning reproduction of a winchester model 71 thats has been having light primer hits. It will shoot once in while but for the most part the firing pin leaves a light indentation on the primer. I changed the main spring thinking that would work but it didnt so I've come to the conclusion that its the inertia firing pin. I would like to know if anyone would have any suggestions on how to fix this.
First have you stripped the bolt and cleaned it?
Remember NO OIL on the firing pin!!!
What do you mean "Main spring"? Are you talking about the hammer spring?
If you manually push on the firing pin does it protrude out far enough?
I start with those questions first.

The firing pin may be broken or the working tip damaged or missing.
Are you using reloads by any chance? If you push the shoulder of the case too far back then the cartridge is too short in the chamber and the firing pin has a hard time reaching the primer. Still another problem with re-loads is that the primer is not fully seated in the primer pocket. It needs to be several thousandths below flush. If not then the hammer has to seat the primer and enough energy is lost due to that effort that not enough is left to set off the primer correctly.
