    Hi All,
Getting low on powder and primers (Win SPP & 231).
Who would you suggest for 8#’s of powder and 5000 primers? I’ve looked at PV, prices look OK but wondering if I can shave a few $ somewhere else.. Thanks for any suggestions, best regards.

Short of buying pull downs or canister surplus, I have not found anyone who sells for less.
When you factor in the service and reliability of PV I rarely go elsewhere.
Just placed large order last week to refresh my supplies.
    Good people at PV.

Id order form grafs if you want to go that big. Free shipping aside from the hazmat fee.

I will have to vote against Powder Valley, this of course may be due to my location in the US, but Powder Valley prices SEEM to be better than others, however, the shipping calculator they use has too many zeros or decimals IMHO. YES the prices LOOK great but talley your shopping cart and call them for a shipping quote. Why? because they add shipping charges at will after you have submitted your purchase!! Dont miss this quote at the checkout page "Shipping will be calculated and added to order" Be warned the prices may be MUCH higher than Grafs if you do all of the math correctly. I was charged $45 shipping+$25 Haz for 5000 primers, one 8lb and one 1LB of powder...Powder Valley?? Never again!

Hey JohnnyFlake, heads up Sportsmans Warehouse is re-opening on the 12th at the Centennial location, be there when they open, and I may save some powder or primers for ya :)

Thanks for the information. I will check out the shipping charges and go from there.

I buy mostly from Graf's but I get dealer pricing with a C&R license.

Graf and Sons also gives me a C&R license holder discount, as does Midway USA, and Numrich.

Graf and sons did have Win Primers on sale. 5000/$119. With that price and the Haz fee, I still saved about $8.00/1000 and about $6.00 on my 8lb of W231.

I would also suggest Grafs but every once in a while they have a "sale" on the hazmat fees and will pay them for you. That would be the best time to grab some. They are having a sale on S&B primers right now, also - 5000 for $99.99 but I think they are already out of SP.

Sale on Hazmat fees, living in rural Alaska; quite hard to fly powder & primers in on small bush planes. They charge the fees more than once. Two years back I spent $3000 on powder & primers from sportsmans and hauled it home myself, they gave me 10% off total order. If I could have it flown in and not pay hazmat fees, I'd jump at that bargain; just sounds too good to be true.

Once SSA told me they send bulk ammo up here by boat and people pick it up when it arrives in Anchorage; I'm 550 miles away from Anch and our road gets washed out most every summer. I cold see it know. Cases of ammo would come in and I couldn't get into get it. I mostly reload anyway, but I'd like to get 1000 rd cases of 6.8 & 308 just to sit on. When I came to Alaska, I brought 8 cases of 556 with me; made it all the way across Canada too, ha ha. My grandkids will still be shooting the stuff skyward when I'm long gone.

Any ideas how I could save on shipping ammo or supplies to where I call home? How about bullets, I mostly shoot Nosler Partitions, Barnes TSX's, and now of late Hornady GMX's. I order from Sinclair, buy 3 more boxes get a little cheaper but figure 30-45 bucks a box of 50 with shipping. And I expect everything to get even higher down the road, stocking up for hunting the rest of my days.

    Broken toe,

Since you are in Ohio, do you have a Sportsmen's Den near you? They have the best prices around. The nearest one to me is north of Mansfield.

And the more powder and primers you buy now, the more you save later due to price increases. I have probably 65lb of powder and 35k primers and will be buying more. And I know of people who bought in bulk and have 10x what I do.

Also, if you know of any shooting competitions in your area that have outside dealers come in, go there the last day of the competition with cash in your pocket. You will be able to negotiate prices w/o paying shipping, hazmat fees, or taxes.
