Can you tell the difference

    Here is how you can tell the difference between the various manufactures of 1911A1 guns just by looking at the roll marks. Picture courtsey of another collector.

    In addition, I believe both Ithaca and Remington Rand used two different rollmarks during their manufacture of the A1.

    I know that RR used three different name & address rollmarks on their slides.

    Yes, RR slides are referred to as type 1,2 and 3. The M 1911A1 marks, the style and spacing of the letter characters, can determine the maker.

    When I carried this one I didn't know doodle 'd squat about them. Often wondered what the make was.
