I've seen one cannelure on some older ammo, but not two like the 38 spec in the pic. One is so close to the botton. What's up with that?

The top one is for the wadcutter bullet mentioned on the box. The bottom one is a mystery to me. Strange.

I've got a few of these mixed in my brass. Never knew exactly why but figgered it was for the factory loading. If the top line is the wad cutter then bottom is most likey the powder charge.

I have seen this many times over the years with Remington brass. Don’t know what the second cannelure is for, just guessing it’s something to do with Remington’s loading machine.
