Here is a fine example of a old COLT 911 45 auto. All original except the grips. If anyone knows their Colt's would certainly know this type of auto. Any info or history on the alloy frame Colt's would be great! Thanks.

series 70 lt wt commander first came out in 1950 i think . great guns but a steady diet of hot 45 acp tended to crack the frames, though rare it has happened to more than a few. a serial number would help determine when it was born and the grips look good. after market grips to not detract from the guns value, original grips are every where and easy to procure if desired

    Oscar,
What a coincidence, post number 1911 on a 1911 thread.

I remember buying a NIB lightweight Commander back in the sixtys for the grand total of $90. Wish I still had it.
