I was out gun lookin the other day and came across a Colt 1911 WW1 Comemorative that had been shot some by the previous owner. It is priced pretty cheap since the collectors value went down the tube. I was wondering if these guns were actually made to shoot or just to look at. It was very tight and clean with a few handling marks. I don't think it has ever been disembled. All coments welcome, Just lookin for honest opions. Thanks

They are fine to shoot. They are usually overpriced and not worth the money but if you got one for a good price, nothing wrong with that. I would shoot it though. Even when they are unfired, I dont think they really climb that much in value, since the purchase price is usually more than what they are worth. But, someone else may beg to differ. This may not be true in every case.

If it's a Colt 1911, and a good price, I'd sure buy it to shoot.

    What was the asking price?

Asking $700.00 But I think he'll take a lot less. He's had it for sale at least 6 months with no interest.

For me, a Colt's a Colt, no matter what's engraved on it. There was a thread here recently about commemorative Colts and their relative value vs. number produced.

$700 or less for a barely-fired Colt is a bargain to me, no matter what's engraved on it. (I should add, I don't purchase collectable firearms.) :D

I would probably buy it for 700.00 but would try for less.
