I will post a reply with pictures of the 357. I have no idea if these are somehow a set or just look alike. I understand these guns can cost a pretty penny (or 20,000). What you you tell me (or need me to tell you) about these, how much each are worth and if the set is worth more (I appear to only have a case for only the 45, which is styrofoam in pictures which makes me wonder about the age). The 357 has a serial number in the range of SA20000. I do not have the serial for the 45.

Enjoy the pictures and thanks for all the great answers I will be getting.

I am not sure what you want to know. A Colt SAA serial number SA20000 would have been made around 1980 or 1981, the so-called "Third Generation." I see nothing to indicate that the revolvers are a matched set or part of a commemorative pair.

Value would be around $1200-1300 each. The brown box with styrofoam insert will add maybe $60 or so. Those guns are still being made and have gained little in value over the past twenty years. I have no idea where your $20,000 figure came from, but unless there is something I don't know, there is no way the value of those guns could approach that amount.

Actually it was 20000 pennies or $200. I should have put 200000 pennies as I was trying to say $2,000. So your valuation is lower than I thought, but still pretty good. It will be interesting to see other opinions. Thank you for your input.

OK, I missed that one! (My dad once said that a penny might not be worth much, but he would take a boxcar full of them.)

Quite a few people bought, and are buying, those guns on the assumption that Colt will discontinue them again and the value will take off. But that has not happened, and brand new ones are available for $1300 or so.
