Hello Gmoody and thanks for your response. I just purchased this Colt Commander and just wanted any information anyone can provide about. So far I know it was made in 1997 and blued was the original finish other than that Colt wants $100 for anymore info about it.
With those two pictures, there is probably no way any one can tell you a whole lot about it. I can tell you that if someone is offering it to you for $100, it is hot as fire or the guy is an idiot. If you can prove it is not stolen then jump on it!!
Yes Colt Will charge me $100 to give me more details and no it is not stolen or hot. I purchased it pre-owned for $600 just want to know if that was an ok price or not? I tried to post better pics but keeps saying file is to big to upload.
Reduce to size of your pictures and try uploading them again. They should be less than 1mb, you might use Paint, MS Office Picture Manager, or some other picture manipulation software.
I can't tell alot from your pictures, and i'm sure no firearms appraiser, but if it's been fairly well taken care of and not kicked around in the sand, mud or dirt. I'd think 600 bucks for a Colt 1911 in decent condition would be worth it.
With better pictures i'm sure others would be able to make an accurate assesment.
A 1991 A1 with custom work is worth $600.
I'm wondering what else has been done ?
Refinished, new hammer, trigger, sights and beavertail grip safety added.
If the barrel has been fitted and a trigger job done, you got a bargain.
If it shoots O.K. then that was a good price. It might have been refinished. It has aftermarket sights and trigger plus the beavertail grip safety was added as was the hammer and the grips are not original. These were often called "billboard" Colts due to the large roll mark.
I picked up one made in 91 for less than $500 several years ago. The grips are not original and it had a Nylon arched MSH which I replaced with a flat one. This guy has quite a bit of holster wear but the guts are good and it is a good shooter so I decided to keep it in my shooty collection.
Yep looks like a M1991A1 Officer's Model that someone has done some work on.
