I've heard that the Colt Python is illegal in the PRK...any truth to this? I just can't comprehend that this may be true! How would the people let such rules be put in place?

If true, and a quality firearm such as a Python is illegal, you might as well trashcan everything else, as they will be illegal, also!!!!

Does that mean my little Anaconda can't come out there and play?

Oh man, I was at my favorite gunstore today, he had about six Anacondas, and this 4 inch tube really balanced out beautifully...except for his price of $700.

Guess I'll be satisfied with my 6 incher.

Someone posted it on another board and I wanted to see if it was BS or not. Apparently it is.

I found this link on the Colt website that shows all new firearms certified for sale...

    justice.hdcdojnet.state.c...ns_new.taf

...the Colt Python doesn't come up from what I can see. This just gives me another reason not to move to Cali.

Ah. good. One less car on the crowded freeways. I was worried for a minute.

    Funny.
When I go to Colt's website for Pythons, and plug 'CA' into 'where to buy', I get a whole range of resellers (shrug).

    This is the real deal.

The Colt Python, CANNOT be sold new or used in California, EXCEPT under the following conditions.

    (1) You must be an active member of a law enforcement agency. This can be Local, County, State or Federal.

    (2) A private party sale is allowed so long as both parties AND the firearm are residents of California (no shipping into the state)

    (3) A pawn shop that has the firearm WHICH WAS PAWNED and NOT redeem by the person who pawned it.

Other then that, NO SALE. California requires that any handgun allowed for sale within the State must first be submitted to the State for a safety drop test. Since Colt has not made the Python available to the State for the drop test, it is not on the approved list of firearms for sale in California.

To: CAL1414 and RAYRAY, I think the three of us are the only ones from CA on this site! CAUSION mentioning our CA status is reason for hanging on certain threads! Just kidding.

Seriously now, if you want to find out what guns have past the drop & cash test go to the D.O.G. page. justice.hdcdojnet.state.c...ns_new.taf A lot of manufactures have chosen not to submit their guns because of market verses expense. You have to send in every model and every variation to have them pass. I.E. same gun different finish different model #, get the expensive picture.

Kinda hard to see the benefits from 3000mi away, I guess.
Especially if your politics are single-issue.
Again, good, one less car on the freeways.

Our gun-politics here do indeed suck ass, I and many others are working to change them. Hard battle. Kicking us (meaning the CA gun-owners 'us') while we're down sure helps a lot, thanks

Wanted to throw this in. While presently a resident of Washington State, I was born and raised (up till I was 18 ) in Northern California. I purchased my first rifle ( a single shot 22) at a local feed store for $25 when I was 14. I purchased my first handgun ( a 22 revolver) at a local hardware store for $35 at the age of 16. I am not sure of the laws in those days (1956-1958 ) but I know I did no paperwork. I paid my money and left with my gun. Perhaps the owners of the stores were doing me a favor, but I know I had no problems. They even threw in some ammo, each time.

Now, the point being, I wonder where (and when) that state got off track?

btw, for those not in the know, there was, and probably still is, a vast difference between the southern and the northern parts of that state.

    ZZ - Screw you!

As for the North & South of the State, sure, some differences, but it's really more like the rest of the Nation - Urban vs Rural. And in our case, it's a bunch or techie and entertainment -industry fops / liberals who've scooped up the political power. The rural population of this state is sorely underrepresented.

Worst part is the hypocrisy of this political elite (like any I guess) - CA State Sen. (D) Perata's name is on all the anti-gun Bills, dozens of penny-ante restrictions, one after another - and from our friends at packing.org - "California's outspoken anti-gun senators Boxer and Feinstein have both been issued these rare permits. Clearly Senators Boxer and Feinstein are believers in the virtues of Concealed Carry permits, if only for themselves. "

I've got a lot of ties to CA, my wife and I both have extensive family ties, my Computer-Consulting career is tied and best-fed here, and other than gunlaws, this state has a wealth of geographic and cultural resources to explore and enjoy. And the World's 6th largest economy.

So, not knocking anyone else's state or country, but while the gun laws here are grievously screwed up, I've got a LOT of other real-world reasons to be here. And I'll keep writing and being involved in my State's politics until some hoped-for / worked-for day when they pull their collective heads out of their asses.
And for those that enjoy putting down 'Kalifornia' - keep laughing, thanks for the 'help'

You are correct,,it is "urban vs rural" issue when it comes to guns,,

however, I do believe it is more than that. I have seen a difference in lifestyle and attitude my whole life. It is almost like two seperate states. In fact, back in the 50's and early 60's there was some who thought it should be broken into two states. It is the same up here. The culture and lifestyle of the western part of Washington (primarly the Seattle & I-5 corrider) are completely different than east of the Cascades. Sadly, since that is the majority of the population, most things get done their way.

anyway, California is still one of the most beautiful p'aces on Earth, bar none. It does have everything, mountains, desert, beachs, fertile farmlands, etc, etc. It is just a shame that presently it has such a political structure.

    Keep up the battle!!!

We are all fooling ourselves..it's more like the uninformed and the ill-informed vs the common sense gang (sounds like an old west showdown). Of course the uns and ills are helped immensely by the bleeding hearts (wish they would just bleed out) and the unregistereds............then of course you have the Central San Joaquin valley where most of the urbans live but we are out populaced (is that a Will Rogerism or what) by the bleeding heart, liberal Democrat, 2nd generation Hispanic farm laborers (they make up like 55 percent of the popluation and when you subtract the uns and the ills you probably would be luky to stay in the double digits). I should explain what a 2nd gen farm laborer is; Dad and or mom traveled up here on a work visa, had child (who is now a citizen) he grew up and learned that Welfare, Social Security and all the other government programs are a lot easier than mom and dad had it. So he registered to vote (Democrat of course) so he can help to elect the politicians who favor these kind of programs........and so starts the cycle! Of course we the farmers can't grow our crops with out his help and we support the programs that make it easy for him to come to America.....and so starts the cycle! Makes you think , huh?
Then I guess we could talk about whether or not the politicians are perpetuating this cycle (knowingly, I'd bet).
Also I wonder what happens to the Social Security withheld and matched (15% of the gross wages paid) when the farm laborer goes back to Mexico before retirement age, and why is our SS system supposedly running out of funds........Oh crap gotta run the black helicopters are flying over and there are jack boots coming up the driv.......................................

    Hi Guys.

I'm new on this Forum, but been on the Left Coast 47 years, half in WA, and half in PRK (minus the 7 years in the USAF in AZ and AR).

The politics of the Comucrats is certainly cretinoid, socialist, and downright hypocritical, but I still like the geography and climate up here in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

I like your style "rayra" and I am staying here to fight it out, too. All the weenies who blast Kalifornians in general, without a thought for those of us who sent two REPUBLICAN Presidents to the White House during my lifetime, are just knee-jerks. (That's reactionists without direction)

Anyway, the data provided about the "Drop Test" is correct and can be verified for any handgun on the CA DOJ website.

Kudos to Jacklaura1 and RichinLincoln for setting the record straight.
