As of today, it is 23 days until the world ends.

    Hey, I just had a thought -
The HEBREW calendar does not end then -
The GREGORIAN calendar does not end then -
In fact, it is ONLY the MAYAN calendar that ends in 23 days.

So, perhaps they are correct and the world ends on 12/21/12 - for the Mayans!

I hear there are around 7 million of them, but that is a very inclusive number; the actual population of true Mayans is certainly much smaller -

IMHO, NOTHING will happen on that date -

But this is a countdown to it anyway.

Up side: If the world ends we don't have to worry about falling off fincial cliffs or trying to exist on whatever pensions are left to us or unemployment or getting sick or...

So he said cheer up. Things could get worse. So I cheered up and sure enough, things got worse.

Just remember. Inside every silver lining there is a dark cloud.

Mayans didn't account for leap years. If they had, the world would have 'ended' over two years ago.

    Oh don't remind me Terry!
I have enough to worry about, like:

    Tornados
    Blizzards
    The stock market
    Social security
    The fiscal cliff
    Losing my job
    Becoming homeless
    Getting a critical illness
    Getting robbed
    Getting burglarized
    Being late for work
    Cell phone radiation
    Getting through TSA
    Terrorist attacks
    The government collapsing
    Gun rights
    The truck breaking down
    Getting lost
    Earth quakes
    Health car insurance
    Global warming
Losing power and freezing to death
    Meteors
    Asteroids
    Aliens invading

All of that and you had to remind me about 12/21/2012!

One more time boys and girls, it is not a prophecy it's a calendar, a very long calendar. When you get to the last date it starts over again for another 1,872,000 days.

There are 5 cycles and each one is longer than the previous cycle.

13 Baktun cycles make up a great cycle and that is what we are looking at now.

The very next day will be a kin, in 20 days it will be a Uinal and on and on till we complete the first of 13 Baktun's. Hopefully at the end of the next great cycle the general population will be sophisticated enough to know its just another day and won't really care because they will be busy worrying about real things.

Well, if that's true I certainly hope that I don't have any Mayan blood in me, it'd really suck to just drop dead at midnight...

That brings up an interesting point. We talking GMT or some other time zone? Did the Mayans even have time zones? If it's GMT will we be able to watch it coming? :D:D
