    That is tough... Names in a hat.. swishing.. swirling.. and the winner is.. Spartan.

    Filippin a coin, Heads its a springer, tails is a spartan, and the winner is... Spartan.

    Good enough for me.. :)

    I'd go with Springer as the Spartan has a RIA frame & slide. Nothing wrong with RIA but I prefer the Imbel forged slide & frame of Springers...

    I have seen a range officer it was no nicer than the Spartan , but I have not shot either

    I opted for the STI Spartan and have not had second thoughts. It's a very good value IMO.

    I have owned and built many SA 1911's. They were mostly Mil Spec versions and a few were Loaded models. The Mil Spec pistols were accurate and reliable after doing the work and they held the accuracy work for a long time. I have always done a trigger job and some minor fitting on the Loaded models.

    I demand a lot out of my 1911's, so, for the money spent, Spartan. Match ready out of the box.

    Thanks for all the advice. I'm still looking for a 1911 in .45 cal.
    I did find a citadel compact, with a range pack. I think I will pick up.
    I did order a colt 1911-22 gold cup. that should be here friday or sat.
    Thanks again. still might get tha springfield and the sparten both also.:D
