Who here actually owns a desert eagle 1911 and what do you think about it? I am curious about them. The commander interests me some.

Just checked it out...nice looking 1911...I would give it a try. I had a 9mm that was Desert Eagle I bought in 1995 and it was great shooting 9mm that was made in Israel.

Oh I have had a desert eagle 44 mag some years ago and I have looked at their 1911s for quite some time but I dont really know anyone who owns one or who has shot one to get an idea of what they think. They do look pretty nice. I need another one like I need a hole in my head but who knows.....

No Dan, not a '1911' per se.....
I have an IMI .45acp and a Magnum Research .50AE Gold Tiger stripe
    but they are not 1911's......
But the Israelis build one helluva weapon.....1000's of rounds thru them and
not even as much as a burp ! Superior performance....and accurate.
Most of my 'true' 1911's are Colt

Back in the 80s, I bought a desert eagle 44mag and a thousand rounds of ammo for around 850-900 bucks. I sold it when times got tuff and I always wished I hadnt done it. While they arent practical, they are cool and built like a tank and they hold up to abuse. I would guess their 1911s are built well also. I am such a sucker for 1911s I will probably have to find out.....

I had a 41 mag by MR desert eagle long ago loved it could even carry it concealed in a belly band. Wished I still had it. Never fired a DE 1911 but they sure do look nice and if they are built like the old ones they have to be a sweet gun.

Ya, that is my problem. I was looking at several other 1911's, especially the Springfield. Got some cash stashed back and saw the Ruger 1911. Dangit,,, now I'm broke.

As for the Desert Eagle 1911, I have a customer that swears by them and he says the tolerances on them are tight. Anything made by Magnum Research has to be good and I would imagine the 1911's quality is going to be right up there with the rest.

Here is a pick of what is on my hit list. I am a sucker for revolvers. Especially big ones.

You will eventually get one of each DD it just may take a few more to strike your eye before you get the Rem or Spartan.
