Early Christmas present

    I really like the laminated stock on the rifle. I will probably settle for a synthetic when ever I go to get one.

    You could, but I really believe in going and holding both the guns, the savage felt right for me, but the marlin could feel right for you. You won't know until you hold them. Now the marlin not having a beautiful stock and the savage having one isn't really important if your going to get synthetic, it's all bout the action and how the gun feels in your hands.

    Got my son a MkII a couple years ago, other than a full bore Mossberg Target rifle I had years ago the Savage is the most accurate .22 I've ever had. It's a standard model MkII.
