Do you read any guns and shooting magazines? Which ones would you recommend to others?

  3. I'm particularly fond of "American Handgunner" and "Handguns" Tranter. Guns and Ammo is also pretty good, at least some of the time. I'll also pick up a copy of "Gun World" occasionally.

American Handgunner you say Pistol. They certainly have had some excellent writers. :):):)

I should have included Am. Handgunner and Gun's to my list also. In my opinion they are the best of the standard magazine rack magazines available.

I read America's First Freedom as it comes with my NRA membership. Of course, it has some propaganda in it... GIVE to the NRA stuff. I find that most of the magazine reviews of weapons and such are rather biased and at times even inaccurate. When was the last time you read a bad review of a weapon? So, the gun reviews and such I read with caution - if I read them at all - as I would rather depend on people I know who actually use said weapons .... (even forums such as this one, once I get to know the people - even a GlockNut ... ;)). We as gun owners need a Consumer Reports (the old CR) of weapons that tells it the way it really is ....

I generally buy Shotgun News and sometimes Solder of Fortune. Every now and then I'll buy Gun Collector because of some interesting stuff on older guns. I need to get a filing cabinet just for magazines.

Shooting Times has been one that I've been picking up more often as of late, it's had some really good technical articles. The latest articles on primers are a must read for any reloader.

Most often I read my American Rifleman/Hunter. On occasion I'll pick up Handguns if they're covering a pistol that I'm interested in.

The only one I get is American Rifleman because I've been a NRA Life Member since
1970. I gave up on a lot of the magazines for the same reason someone else mentioned, there's never a bad review on any gun. Maybe they've changed since I quit buying them, but I doubt it. the guns all function flawlessly and shoot outstanding groups. We do need a consumer report magazine for guns that will tell it like it is, not what manufacturers want printed about their products.

Ain't it the truth, even in the one and only mag I take, TAR. Another reason I don't take any others is because the more I read about guns the more I want to buy. I don't need that kind of stimulation.

I subscribe to Shooting Times and just took a subscription for Rifle Shooter. A friend at work takes Guns & Ammo and Guns Magazine and we swap them out when we finish reading them. I would recommend Shooting Times to you, the articles are well written and are short enough not to lose interest in them.

Used to subscribe to Guns & Ammo, maybe 15 years ago. Soldier of Fortune was a fave when I was a kid, not so much now since I actually "at least know some" and can use the BS filter more. Or make phone calls. Whatever.

I actually went to the supermarket's magazine aisle tonight, and looked at the gun mags. Flipped through some, actually.
The Backwoodsman is the only one I'll endorse. I do suggest anyone interested in LIVING (not SURVIVING) read that mag. Get a subscription, actually.

    American Rifleman.

Will have to take another look at American Handgunner.
