As far as I am concerned, the Taurus PT-1911 has all of the "bells and whistles" that you want on a 1911 without having to pay for the customization by a professional. In other words, you got a good gun.
I've got a PT1911 project gun. Picked it up cheap after some bubba fiddled with almost everything inside. I've still got a good frame and slide to work with though.
I'm slowly building it up how I want it...Good excuse to get more tools for the bench!
A few guys I shoot with locally bought PT1911s brand new and other than a few break-in hiccups (FTF, FTEs, etc) they've been great shooters.
you just want to make sure you get some good grips. the factory ones that were on it really ripped up my hands when i rented this pistol at my local range.
