Their is a gun show coming up and I have decided to purchase my first pistol. I am pretty fluent in rifles so I first thought Kimber, but was also considering Smith and Wesson. So I was wonder what some of your all's though's would bw between these. Thanks

See what's available and see which one "speaks" to you.

Either one of the two you mentioned are good weapons as are most brands.

If you know rifles then you should be able to spot a sloppy or worn piece and not choose it.

Beware of the Llama brand pistols. Depending dates of manufacture there are some lemons out there.

Most other brands are good serviceable pistols.

    Good luck.

If you find one .... look it over and make sure a backyard gunsmith hasn't "fixed it"..... just like in rifles .... look for worn or broken parts and loose parts or parts that don't look like original. Either brand is good as well as some others. If you have never heard of the brand.... simple, don't but it.
    my 2 cents worth.

I have a smith full size 1911 and just bought a Kimber Ultra CDP 2.

So far I must say the Kimber is my fav. despite my attachment to the Smith.

The good news is that I have 2 1911's that I love, and why choose.

    I have 2 hands.

    :)

Owning 1911's can be very addictive. Maybe you will need to add several more hands. :)

I will look into that. If they can make a man a woman, surely they can glue an arm on me:)
