Hello I am researching a lot of old civil war gund for a friend and he has one that is stumping me. I believe its a french M-1857. I can find the initials LF on the side plate and under the trigger gaurd and the numbers 14 which I think is a serial number and the number 88 stamped randomly on the weapon any help would be great! Ill try to put some pics on here.
