I am going to buy a new gun or two this weekend if all goes as planned. I am strongly considering a Glock 30 for carry and possibly getting a Rock Island 45 or Springfield mil.spec to tinker with. Suggestions are welcomed. I hope to run onto a good used colt for around 400.00. That may just be dreaming on my part.

Please clarify your caliber of choice again. Please set three caliber priorities.

    ie.

    .22
    .32
    9mm

    etc.

    My overall recommendations.

    1. Taurus Millenium
    2. Ruger P95
    3. Walther P22
    4. Smith & Wesson. A22
    5. Ruger KP4 and KP512
    6. Ruger Vaquero in marble
    7. Keltec P32, 380 and 9mm
    8. Taurus PT22

    In rifles I enjoy.

The Remington 597. My favorite firearm period.
Ruger 10/22., modified in every way you can imagine
    Marlin 60SS

    Enjoy.

I enjoy shooting just about any caliber that is in front of me. However the pistols that I am currently interested in are 45acp's. At this time I only have.

    ruger 10/22
    ruger sp 101 in 357

Plan on fixing that this weekend. :D

Went with a friend after work to try out his new pistol. A ruger 22/45. Had a lot of fun. Will have to put one of those on my list for latter.

A buddy of mine bought a Rock Island 1911 and it is a nice pistol, fairly accurate, not a target pistol, but good for personal defense. I have a Firestorm 1911, bout the same as the Rock Island, maybe not as pretty of a finish. I carry my Millennium PT-111 daily and also would recomend it for a daily carry piece.

The Ruger Vaquero and the Kimber are excellent 45s.
    Have you considered them?

I second that. The Walther P22 is awesome in every way, but I think he is looking for a higher cal.

Thanks for the input. I know I don't post often, but I do try and pay attention to the wisdom in this forum.

I have been pulling my hair out for the last two weeks trying to decide how to best make use of my meager funds.

I have had 2 Llama 45's and one Charles Daly. All three disappointed me. I am hopeing to find better quality this time. I did seriously consider a Kimber, however I also would like to give the Glock a try even though I think they are about as ugly as any firearm I have ever looked at. Maybe I can find a used Kimber or Colt in a price range that would allow me to also get the Glock.

Rem.597, I had a Black Hawk in 45 colt with the xtra cylinder in acp. I miss that gun more than any I have ever owned. Great shooting firearm. Got in a pinch.:(

Thanks again for all the replies.

I had to say - BUY JUST ONE!!!. No need to go buy two mediocre weapons when one nice one is what you need. As an anti-Glock , I say go for the kimber. You will be glad you did. Find what fits and buy it. Who cares if you don't have enough left over to buy a another one. Spend that money on a case of ammo and Practice, Practice, Practice. Get one good one, and get good with it.

    Naw....don't get the boat anchor.....get the Glock !!:D :p

    mike

ps whatever you do get...buy the ammo instead of a second gun.......
What good is a gun if you don't have lots of ammo for it?

Well the Kimber won in the hands on contest. I went with Kimber Pro Carry II. Now I see where I wasted money buying cheaper guns over the years and I haven't even shot it yet. RAINY AND COLD. Hope it shoots as good as it feels. I will have to get better mags though. These look like cheepies, one has a bulge on the follower.

I did pick up a couple hundred rounds of Walli-world white box to start the break-in when weather permits.

Thanks again for all the advice.

Eagle, a bit late but here goes...

The G30 is a bit heavy for CCW. If you want a Glock .45, go with the 36. It's a bit thinner and lighter.
