I have a percussion rifle that my grandfather built I believe back in the 70's and it has a GR Douglas 32 cal barrel and I was wondering if anyone would know what the twist rate on it would be.
I believe its going to be a 1:66 twist. Run a tight fitting patch down the bore and mark the rod at the muzzle in line with the front sight. Pull it out slowly letting the rod turn with the rifling. When it makes a half turn mark it again. Pull it out and measure the distance between the marks and multiply X 2 or pull it a 1/4 turn and multiply X 4. Either way will get you pretty close to the actual twist rate.
