I recently picked up an old pistol after my grandfather passed. After doing some research it is an Iver-Johnson .32. On the top strap it has stamped "Iver-Johnson Arms & Cycle Works, Fitchburg, Mass USA with patent dates of Fef 15, 87, May 10, 87, Dec 23, 93 Pats Pending.
It appears to be a 5 shot .32 with single post top break with no visible safety. The hammer is exposed and the barrel is 2 inches long. The grips are brown and detailed with an Owl on the top of each side. The serial number is 20388 and is stamped in the end of the butt and also matching number in the strap over the barrel inside.
Any information about age and value and other details is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. Your grandfather's gun appears to be a first model, second variation made in 1895 for black powder .32 S&W cartridges.
But there should also be a first patent date of Apr.6.86?

Value depends upon condition, and photos are needed.
