The August 8 edition of the New Yorker magazine has an interesting article about the raid that resulted in the end of Osama bin Laden. The whole article is worthwhile (it should be on the magazine rack of most any library if you don't want to shell out $5.99 at a newstand).
The squadron commander is said to have carried a Sig Sauer P226 pistol and a short-barrel M4 rifle with a silencer. Other Seals supposedly carried the Heckler & Koch MP7. I'm unfamiliar with this weaponry, but perhaps others on this forum might have comments to share.
I'm unsure of the benefit of the silencer - what with helicopters hovering and C4 explosives going off (to blow gates and doors).
