H & A Forehand model 1801

    I just purchased this pistol. It is stamped H&A Forehand model 1801 with a 1908 on the grip near trigger housing. I assume it will be black powder and is chambered in .38 short.

    the 1801 is actually 1901. the "H&A Forehand Model 1901" were manufactured between 1901 and 1909. when H&A introduced thier new "Safety Police" model in 1910 all their other top break revolver were dropped.

    yes this model is a black powder only revolver.
