NEED TO GET INFO ON WHERE TO GET PARTS (SPECIFICALLY REAR SITE BLADES) FOR THE ABOVE PISTOL. THE SERIAL IS P63541, AND WAS BOUGHT BY MY FATHER IN THE LATE 50'S EARLY 60'S. HE RECENTLY PASSED DUE TO BRAIN CANCER, SO THIS PISTOL MEANS VERY,VERY MUCH TO ME! WOULD LOVE TO REPAIR IT!! ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!!
If you go to Numrich's site (www.gunpartscorp.com) tap H on the list of manufacturers, which will bring up H&R for you. There are schematics/parts listings for most of H&R's revolvers.
H&R made two different rear sight blades for the 999. One is close to unobtanium, the other is available, and can be filed and modded to work for the other.
The .070" thick unit is usually hard to find, but Wisner's(<--click) may still have one . The .090" unit is available (<--click). There are other small differences too, like the tangs.
You need to measure the width of your rear sight notch before ordering a replacement.
If you are curious and didn't know, your 999 was made in 1954.
