H&R 940

    There is a key way on the butt of this revolver,looks like a trigger locking device? where can I find a key, there wasn't one when I bought the gun. It is an H&R model 940

    thanks jamesjo, nice 940 you have there, mine's a little rough but you don't get much for 50 bucks

    the key lock was introduced in 1959 and discontinued in 1972. it was offered on the model 939 and model 940 when it was introduced in 1970. the model 940 is just the model 939 with a heavy bull barrel. this is also a case of something old being new with all the key locked model now produced.

    Here is a pic of my model 939.
    It looks to be in about the same condition as your 940. Not all my H&R's are cherry!
    This one is a shooter, not a looker!
    As Bill G. said, the 939, and 940, are the same pistol, just different barrels.

    Once again, H&R was before thier time, in offering the key lock so long ago!

    I also have an H & R model 940 however mine is missing the barrel rib with the front sight. Anyone know where I can get one? Numrich, and Brownells say they don't have them.
