Hello!
I have some H&R 9-shot cylinders that are longer then the cylinder for the H&R model 999. The cylinders I have measure 1.3345" long, and the cylinders for the H&R model 999 measure 1.235". They look exactly the same except for the difference in length.
Does anyone have any idea what H&R top-break revolver these cylinders fit?
Thanks in advance!
Old Gun Guy
H&R also made a large frame top break 22 rimfire revolver called the '22 Special" do these cylinders have the retangular notch for the automatic cylinder stop?

Bill,
I am enclosing a picture of the unknown cylinder against two known cylinders. Although the unknown cylinder will slide on the model 999's quill, it is too long to close the barrel. Also, it will catch on the 999's cylinder catch, but will not release, and has to be pried off breaking the catch hook.
I have 10 of these cylinders that all appear to be unused. It's a real mystery to me.
Thanks Bill for your interest.

Bill,
Thanks for the info. You are probably correct in assuming that the unknown cylinders are for the H&R/NEF 1871 model 999's. If anyone reading this post has a NEF model 999, I would certainly appreciate knowing the length of its cylinder.

Jim,
Thanks for posting the pics of the H&R Sportsman 999 cylinders and timelines. This is a post that I submitted back in December of 2010. I am still trying to find out why these H&R cylinders are a different size than the norm for 999'S.
