Hello, all. I just picked up two old rifles, can anyone help identify, how old, specifics on calibre, value, etc? I have four of the pics here, I'll post a second thread with the other two for the second rifle.

    Thanks, Bill

My tired old eyes are telling me the top rifle is a mod 98 mauser, sporterized, made in Poland in 1938. (It wasn't sporterized in Poland.)

The 2'nd rifle looks like a 30-40 Krag.

The Polish mauser looks like a good hunting rifle, and with that peep sight on the receiver, should be quick to bring up.

The old Krags are really smooth and fun to shoot. On the old Krag rifles, I would recommend having them checked out by a gunsmith. These rifles are known to develop cracks.

Sorry, no real idea on the value.
