please help confirm for me what i think i have. it is a Enfield No 4 Mk 2 (F) with the following marks
    7/49 PF 120108

i beleive it is made in july of 1949 7/49
at the Fazakerly plant due the (F)
    and is sequential number 120108

if i understand how to decode the numbers does this mean that this rifle was the 120,108th one made of this type (No 4 mk 2 ) at the fazakerley plant
or the 120,108th made in july of 1949

all parts receiver, bolt, barrel, magazine all have the same serial number,
stock is a lighter color and has brass buttplate

    any help would be appreciated

    thanks Steve

    hey ret,
acorrding to mr enfield book the trigger on a mk2 is attached to the action and not the trigger guard like the mk1 and that year they made some w/walnut stock which is rare but birch and beechwood are the common wood used for the stocks of the mk2.
as for the serial # i'd say it's for that type cause they pumped out alot of enfields and i figure the # would be higher if just counting overall production
    hope that helps
