I have an old top break H&R revolver. So far I believe it to possibly be a Old Model Small Frame Premier manufactured around 1890-1892 and chambered for .38 S&W Blackpowder. Can anyone help me validate this or let me know exactly what it is? And an approximate value in current condition?
The pistol was brought in the shop and has a broken top latch so I was trying to find parts for it but am feeling less like I will be able to. I would at least like to give the customer some further information on it. There is significant nickel plating damage and rust pitting on both sides and the bore appears to be pretty shot out. The trigger assembly and hammer operate fine.
The serial number under the strap is 030631. You can also find "631" stamped on the cylinder, ejector, and under the grips. The top of the barrel shows "Harrington & Richardson Arms Co., Worchester, Mass. USA: Pat'd Oct. 4' 87". It has a 3.25" barrel and the cylinder is 1.2" long and 1.25" in diameter. There are no caliber markings on either side of the barrel so I have been led to believe it is a .38 S&W Blackpowder.
