Alright, so I have recently obtained an Iver Johnson revolver. Above the cylinder says:
    I.J. TARGET model
    Model1900 Fitchburg, Mass U.S.A.

Serial numbers on the trigger guard and the handle under the grip are 35499.
Fires great, had a great time with it too. Any information on this firearm would be great if at all possible. Value? Date made?
The pictures should help. If anything else is needed just let me know.

if you look at the left side of the grip again you will see an "F" higher up. the F letter code was used on the large frame model 1900 between 1909 and 1917. serial number F35499 was manufactured in 1912. this is the earliest revolver i have seen with the target model 1900. all other i have seen were manufacture after 1929, which is also the first listing in the catalogs as a seperate model. this is very early for this type of markings and i will need to find several more in this era before i can say for sure the introduction of the target model 1900 is any earlier than what is listed in my book. i will retain this information and pictures for future study. it appears fo be 22 rimfire caliber is it?

Bill, you are amazing. Yeah you guessed it, .22 LR. After reading a few posts I am kinda curious as to if I should be firing modern smokeless ammo though her. I fired a whole hell of a lot of rounds with really no problems. What would you recommend? I did neglect to mention that it is a 9 shot. Is that significant to you? Also, I am an avid photographer. If you would like some better pictures let me know and I can send em' on over.

I have the exact same gun with the same markings and everything. My serial number is 12030. I was trying to figure out what year it was made and anything else about it.

    wolfboy,
your has either replacement grips or the original were reworked. yours mostly had the C letter code under the grips on the left side. serial number C 12030 was made in 1930. can you furnish pictures of the eft side of the grip frame.

    iramalbert,
need to know what the letter code is to be sure but if it also is a C this one made in 1942 or possibly after the war in 1946/47. could you furnish pictures of the serial number on the left side of the grip frame area.

this is a different model from the large frame I.J. Target. it was built on the small frame model 1900 between about 1925 and ablut 1929. serial number A22841 was manufactured in 1927. it is unknown aow many of the target models versus the regular small frame model 1900 were manufactured but there was a total of 3,800 model 1900 in 22 rimfire manufactured that year.
