I feel bad for the deer getting caught up in a rope swing. I see nothing funny about it.
I myself would not even think of shooting at it. I would be thinking of how to get it released.

If it becomes overtly obvious that the deer is suffering, shoot it. I too feel bad for it. If you don't want to shoot it, call wildlife officers.........anybody that knows where to place the shot....
Local wildlife officer or a Vet. Tranquilizer. Untangle him. Wake him up,
and then the deer said:
"Won't you give me three steps
Gimme three steps Mister
Gimme three steps towards the door?
Gimme three steps
Gimme three steps Mister
You'll never see me no more"
Or, no wildlife officer or vet:
Bang! Bang! Maxwell's silver hammer
Came down upon her head.
Clang! Clang! Maxwell's silver hammer
Made sure that she was dead.
(The silver hammer being in the form of a 12 gauge slug.)
You either do something or kill it. There is no option of leaving it suffer.
Looks like this trap was set at night, new regulations will most likely state, that all traps can only be set during daylight hours. During hours of darkness they have to be unbated, and sprung.
