    I had this Sportsman dated once but I don't remember if it was here or somewhere else. If it was here I can't find it now. Would you be so kind as to date it for me again? All I remember is it was in the 30's. Serial number is 45743

    Hawg,
    1st Model either a 3rd Variation (1934) or early 4th Var. (1935). Can't see the patent numbers on the cylinder - if only one: it's a 3rd, if two: it's a 4th. Firing pin is on hammer because I can't see a retaining pin in the frame under the rear sight. Serial numbers at that time crossed from the 30k to the 50k range, so the s/n doesn't nail the year. Need more data.

    Two patent numbers PAT 190473 and PAT 20436 Firing pin is hammer mounted as in first pic.

    Let's call it a 4th Variation and 1935 for year of manufacture.
