I have a High standard 357, Sentinell MkIII with 3" barrel, blued, serial # starts with an "H". I believe it's from the Dan Wesson era (1973-74) made for Sears, or Western Auto. The gun is about an 8 out of 10. Looking for value info please. May consider trading it for one of those new fangled semi autos!!!

HIGHLY COLLECTABLE PRE- DAN WESSON hi standard made them for a short while. dan wesson went into business after buying the rights from hi-standard. there are people who collect them. do a google and check out some aution sites. if you can find one ( they're rare) you'll see what kind of money they bring.

The High Standard Sentinel MK II and MK III were made by Dan Wesson for High Standard for a couple of years. Dan Wesson had been in production fro a few years before private labeling some for High Standard. The design and production was by Dan Wesson with sales by High Standard.

Serial numbers for the MK II and MK III were in the same series and ran from H 10,001 through H 31,911 and a few between H 35,029 and H 35,049

Offered with 2.50" , 4.00" or 6.00" barrels. The MK II had a fixed rear sight and teh MK III had an adjustable rear sight.

At over 21,000 guns these were not rare based on production numbers.

MK II and MK III. These were rebranded Dan Wesson .357 Magnum revolvers. They were sold from mid- 1973 through February of 1975. There are persistent rumors that High Standard made the Dan Wesson pistols, but they are completely untrue.

Welcome to the Forum, jaterrell59. I gather Dan Wesson revolvers are your particular interest.

One important thing to remember in gun collecting is that rarity does not necessarily determine value. Value is determined by demand. I agree that these pistols are not scarce, as is evidenced by the Blue Book value of $200 to $250 in the condition described above.

They were sold from May 1973 through June 1975 with a few stragglers in July and perhaps later.
