I have a Hopkins and Allen, Safety Police 32 caliber, 3 1/4 inch barrel, Top Break Revolver. Serial number looks like EX 045. Top of Barrel is stamped Pat pend August 21, 2006. It's dirty but in pretty good shape. Does anyone have an Idea what it's worth?

    Doc,
Welcome to the forum. Are you sure of the Patent pending date stamp on top of the barrel?
Several years ago, maybe 9 or 10, I purchased one of those for under $100 and sold it shortly afterwards for under $100. Bringing that up to today's RETAIL market, I don't see the gun selling for more than $175 or so in v.good condition. Not many show up in shops or at gun shows, and they are well made and "cool" designs, but the collector market for them is soft because there is not much written history as yet.

I believe the patent date should be August 21, 1906?

A quick search of a major online auction last 90 days shows sales of $52, $90, $120, and $229 according to condition, the low one about 50% and high one 90% with factory oversize target grips.

I bought this Saftey Police .38 for under $100 maybe 2 years ago.
Same pat. date per hrf, average condition, shoots but shaves a little lead, I don't use - just keep in the collection for its little differences, as Jim put it "well made and cool designs".

Could be a 1908 date on top of barrel, can't read so well "Old Eyes"
