The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't.

In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was.

The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows. Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice-versa, and by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be, and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.

Gee, thanks Tuck. Now not only does my brain hurt, but my hair hurts and my teeth itch. Many thanks for that heads up. Sorta like the guidance system on the old Terrier M and Posiden missles I used to work on for Sperry Gyroscope in NY!

    1. missle needs to hit target.
    2. It knows where target is.
    3. the missles knows where its not (target)
    4. Goes there.

I'm not sure but I may be a missile. Not sure where I am most of the time but I always know where I aint.

Makes sense to me. Sounds just like some of the accounting programs I've written :D:D:D

I used to write software for Medicare, Medicaid and MediCal submissions for specialist Doctors. The shenanigans those guys used to try to pull would put an IRS auditor to shame.

However devious the Doctors were, the worst part was in trying to make a dead-logical reasoning device (computer) understand and follow rules written by an army of government busy-bees. Convincing a computer to follow self cancelling and contradictory rules was as interesting as a conversation concerning relative motion theory with the Red Queen. :D

Seems like the same kind of guidance system men use when whizzing in the ter'lit...:D

I am replying to the creators post on the topic.

To me that would explain why the Missle Guidance System is flawed. It's flawed because it chooses the wrong mathematical system to follow. It should work through Missle Radar Systems that every nation can develop for low costs. You track a missle either through Atmospheric Heat Anomalies through the satelite system (although from what I know, I can't remember there being a satelite that was designed or is being designed for Heat Anomalies through NA skies).

To me this is how the system works, or should work. There is a missle somewhere, that just got launched. First thing you have to do is use targetting systems that can locate this missle, may it be through advanced radar detection systems or as mentioned Heat Anomaly systems (none existent yet>?), once you find there is a missle, you have to make pin point trigonometry and "ping" the target through the radar systems to determine it's protected velocity/altitude/area of Min/Max impact zone. Once that is determined (5 seconds), then a Missle with a programmed hit zone is sent. What typically happens is that missle's pre-programmed flight was miscalculated due to a wind error function that was entered. This is how I do believe the system works.

It can also work through constant radar updates of where a Missle is going, you send in a squadron of missles to hit that missle through near light speed updates of the missles trajectory. But the problems here is there are frequent anomalies that occur through trajectories when dealing with missles, along with the missles that are trying to destroy the "boggy".

Now yes there are atmospheric graphings that occur quite frequently that are almost correct, provide a great wealth of information when dealing with missle strike zones. In which when you got the missle projected strike zone, you basically send a missle to a particular area of the sky to "intercept" that missle and hit it or not. You can great a great explosion to just destroy the missle. Although with scud's, even when you hit the missle, you wont destroy the warhead. So you have to have a big enough explosion in the sky to eliminate the warhead that is on a missle.

The Patriot and Arrow systems are a waste of money, because they are flawed through the math. They want to hit a target, but with a small explosives package that is inside the arrow/Patriot systems. You need to create a mini-nuke explosion in the sky to destroy the missle if your dealing with Scud's.

Although am interested in information that might prove me wrong :)
