It took almost 1 year from the date of application to get my pistol permit and it is only for hunting/target. Next to impossible to get full carry permit right off the bat in NY.

I had to fill out one form, shorter than the "yellow form" to buy a gun. Whole thing took about ten minutes. Live Free or Die.

Four months in Mississippi, as outlined in our statute.

Took me 5 minutes in Alabama, when I got my first in 1961. After that until I moved to Mississippi a couple years ago, it was walk in each year, plunk doay the renewal fee and walk out with the renewal.

The first time I applied the city police processed the request in just a couple of days even though I had heard they had been in the habit of dragging the process out quite a bit (the mayor was up for reelection). It took about a month to get it back from the State.

I renewed twice with the Sheriff when I lived out of the city limits and again it was about a month turnaround with the State.

Indiana is a "shall issue" state.

Took 3 months after they got the paperwoek to get mine here in Arkansas. they've gotta make it in 120 days by law.

Tireman, the state police are supposed to mail you a letter 90 days before it expires. They just miss ya or something?

Ya' know, we have carry permit here in AZ... take a class, take the test... permit is issued. (Well, it's almost that easy)

The law went into effect a few years ago... so to make it legal to carry concealed.

But, If'n ya' don't go 'round showin' how proud you are to have a permit... well, many of us have been carryin' for many, MANY years. We just don't advertise it and our pride is keepin' our mouths shut and bein' low profile, unnoticed, "moss" quiet and stealthy!

We also have a few "hammer laws" to get around the need to have a permit. If it's in a holster or scabbard, no matter where it's carried... it's legal, loaded or unloaded.

I read about all them folks gettin' killed by an unloaded gun... I loaded all mine!

The Peoples Republik of Czechlisofornia has so many laws about firearms it's mind bogglin'... and more of them (PRofC folks) is a comin' to AZ every day... PRofC folks are really proud of Boxer and Feinstein... and I'm proud they have 'em!

Now, if we can get them to invite John McCain into San Franscisco... we'll proudly give him up!

Well, I lived in Arizona, Tempe to be exact, in the 70's. We could legally carry as long as any portion of the gun or holster could be seen outide your clothing. It was legal to carry in your vehicle as long as it was not under the seat or in the glove box. If it was on the dash, it was legal.

I carried anywhere alchohol was not served, and never had a problem. This was from '74 until '86 when I left

Each County in New York state is different. Most rural counties will let you have full carry right off the bat. In urban counties and NYC, it is almost impossible unless you are a politician or prominent businessman. Even ex-military have trouble getting permits.

    IPT,

I was in Gila Bend from '71 up to '80 and then in Phoenix from then to '99 when I left and never looked in the mirror.

My chapter of the Dirty Dozen were the first club members to get ours. (Those of us who were non-felons, that is) It really got the Police attention when all those fingerprints came thru for the background checks. HaHa.

My AZ permit was still valid when I moved to Idaho so it went pretty easy with the local Sheriff up here. All within a month if I remember correctly.
