I have two speedloaders ready for my home defense revolvers. If you can't hit your attacker in three shots it won't matter anyway. The attacker will win.

I recall one poster who said that he carried two big Glocks, two small Glocks, two spare magazines for each gun, and two 50 round boxes of extra ammo. I think he was pulling someone's chain, but if not, I wonder how he could walk. Must have been built like a tank.
If I carry around my property (conceal carry in WI is illegal), I usually keep a mag loaded in my gun and I keep two extras in my pockets. Just in case. Better safe than sorry. I am assuming this is in an automatic not a revolver?
Just don't overdo it like this -
Fast forward in about 4 minutes and he throws out about 10 different guns, a knife hidden up his sleeve and this fake grenade with a knife in it.

I figure the loaded magazine in the gun should be enough. I don't really see myself being in a gunfight that I would need to have many more rounds. I hope I am wrong on this, But if that ever happens maybe also carrying a change of underwear would be in order. JUNK
Around here, gangs are more common than lone scumbags, so I've know to carry about 100 rounds. And about the saying: "If you can't stop them in 3 shots..." a possible complement to that could also be. "...then you're gonna need more shots". If you don´t need that many rounds, good, but if you do..."better have it and don't need it" also applies here.
haha i think i love this forum! picking up my first automatic from the gun show today. S&W .40, .45, or 9mm. im still having trouble making up my mind. i made a nice ankle holster for my judge, which ive been carrying for awhile. i think 1 in the automatic with the judge loaded with buckshot and i should be set for anything that might go down. i was thinking about picking up another judge with a 6 1/2" barrel today but after sitting up most of the night thinking about it i dont really need another gun thats nearly impossible to conceal. thank God for loose fitting jeans or i wouldnt be able to carry the one i have.

This is a correct assumption. One magazine "Usually" gets the job done. BUT!
What is you are at the mall walking to your car when 3 or 4 BG's approach and you have to defend your family. You take your gun out, get off "one" shot AND your "ONE" magazine fails.
What do you do next?
Answer= Watch your family DIE!
"IF" you had an extra magazine, you may be able to duck behind a parked car do a "tactical" reload and SAVE your family.
One in the chamber with a full mag. One reload. One shot one kill. A nice chest shot with a 45 hydra shock the others will run like little school girls.

one thing that very few people think about it what if someone goes on a shooting rampage again and they happen to be the one that is in the area that can stop it. These shooters are coming with 200+ rounds and bulletproof vests! I personally don't want to get close enough to the shooter to have to start shooting perfectly accurate, and 6-8 rounds just won't cut it. If I'm going to be in a shootout against an armored shooter, I want to have at least a couple of reloads. who knows what you'll be up against, better safe then sorry.
When I'm out and about I try and avoid being where the BG's are. If I can't and deadly force is necessary then shoot them to the ground. I carry an SP101 and a reload in a speedloader. I am not looking for a shootout I'm looking to escape.
sometimes the bad guy is between you and the exit... the only way out is through him.
