serial number F85244 was manufactured in 1916 but it did not leave the factory until at least 1921.

    I.J. MODEL 1900 TARGET (LARGE FRAME)-----------------------1921-1941
Built on the I.J. Model 1900 large frame, large oversize checkered grips (saw handle shaped), Pull pin cylinder release; Barrel lengths of 6 and 10 inches available octagon in shape; .22 rimfire caliber with 9 rounds cylinder capacity; Weight with 6 inch barrel 24 ounces, with 10 inch barrel 27 0zs. Overall length with 6 inch barrel 10 ¾ inches, with 10 inch barrel 14 4/3 inches. In the 1938 Iver Johnson’s Arms & Cycle Works catalog this revolver was given a model number: Model 69 for the 6 inch barrel, Model 79 for the 10 inch barrel. DOES NOT HAVE HAMMER THE HAMMER ACTION
    VALUE: 6 INCH BARREL MODEL 69 100%=$200 60%=$120
    10 INCH BARREL MODEL 79 100%=$250 60%=$170 (RARE)

as the introduction date of this model and the date of the serial number F85244 do not line up i can only assume this revolver started life as a large frame centerfire revolver. that was later changed to a large frame rimfire (before it left the factory. the only changes that would be needed would be a new barrel, cylinder and hammer (internal mechanism is the same)
