Another good cheap target I saw on TV last night is shooting at charcoal brickettes. Throw them in the air and shoot them with bird shot or just set them up and shoot them with handguns.
By the way, great idea for a thread.

I bought one of those Winchester hanging metal targets from Wally World. Thought it would be OK for some plinking. The only hits it took actually took it out of service. It has a 1/4" frame that supports three round swinging targets, made from flat strap. One shot hit the left target where it hangs from frame. Broke it off. Next shot hit the frame, broke in two pieces and whole thing fell flat on ground. Never once hit bullseye or even the target outline itself.

take finishing (paneling) nails drive into 2x4 on 2" side till about 1/2 inch is left sticking up. place fired .22 shells over each nail. set up about 30 ft away (10 yds). good for either 45 or .22's..suprising how hard it is to hit one!

The paint ball is a great idea, I can't beleive I forgot it. I normally use it at 50 yds with my 10/22. Get a poster board and glue them. One word of advice start from the bottom and go up. First time I tried it I started with the top row, by the time I got to the middle I could not exactly see where they were...who knew gravity would have that affect on paint.

I will be doing this the next time I go out. The grand kids will have fun gluing the paintballs to the target.

    How about my ex-wife :D.

    A 45 won't set off a Tannerite target.

    howlin,

trick with tannerite and slower rounds

while the mix is fluid pour into a shallow steel plate

i took some cuts outta some flat steel 1/2" plate and bent the edge up till they met and i welded em closed as the mold

then lean against a tree or something the bullet will compress the tannerite between itself and the plate and go off

i'm told this dont work with the bottle mix tannerite from some places .. i dunno i have always made my own

Thanks for that Jack. I've only ever shot at the store bought ones. I have thought about making my own, I just realized I have the aluminum and 34-0-0 fertilizer in the shed.

i use methyl alcohol to get the nitrate to slurry

but do so only if you know it wont get bumped , knocked , or even rattled while it set's , once set its safe as but you can set it off with tossing a jar of it while its setting

i know this first hand .. tossed a jar of it at a cat after when i first got the geese ..

i'm forever grateful it was a plastic jar and not glass or something ...

oh and use hollow points even on .22's this works well
