You know how we are always having those threads come along titled "If you could narrow it down to just a few" or "Name your go to list of essential weapons"... Well you get the idea.

How many of us have actually done it???

I did. Just this week in fact.

I am still getting over the butterflies in my stomach, the ones that are there because I am still not sure whether or not it was a good idea.

I still really dont know why I just decided to sell nearly all of them. I just got up one morning late last week and decided It was time.

Sooooo, Since Im now in the market for some new "BARE ESSENTIALS", What are yours??? ;)

Please tell me you didn't sell the .460 Green Hog Killing Machine.

I could not do the bare essentials bit. Too much emotion and sentiment attached to many of the guns. I have given myself a butt kicking over almost ever gun I have ever sold but not being a rich man I had to sell to buy.

    Sold: Colt Lightening 32-20 KICK
    Sold: Remington Mod 51 .380 w/box KICK
    Sold: Colt Gov. 1911 KICK
Sold: Pristine Ithica Gov. 1911 A1 KICK
    Sold: Colt King Cobra KICK
    Sold: S&W Model 18 KICK

That is just a few but you get the idea.

But Oooooh! the joy of buying something new.

Don't think the question applies to most of us when it comes to guns. Bare essentials in what set of circumstances? In everyday life, there is the gun most suited for self defense, then there is the gun we have the most fun with, the gun we treasure for sentimental reasons, the trusted hunting rifle/shotgun and so on. In short, you can't have just one. And the more you have, the more you want. The more you have, the more you learn and the more your tastes become refined. Part of the joy of being a gun nut is the hunt for the ever elusive perfect, essential gun. I enjoy looking, so I don't care if I find it!

"Bare essentials" to me mean just that. My Howa with the scope is a great rifle and I would not part with it but the scope puts it out of the realm of "bare essentials."
Therefore my Remington 1858 New Model Army replica is the closest I have to "bare essentials" when it comes to firearms.

But, if you want to know which of my firearms I will not part with...

    None of them.

Josh 3 letters is all you need.
    DCM
    (distinguished combat magnum)
After seeing some of your shots, its a revolver with the range of a small rifle and you could possibly conceal it (with some obvious discomforts) and its big enough to drive a spike or a nail. What more could a guy want? OK well maybe more than a 6 shot capacity but with a .357 who needs more than one?

Me and my nefew was talking just last night about this very topic.
Ive sold and Ive traded to get what I was after, some good and some bad. I'm tired as I told him.
The good things (guns) I have gotten rid of to up the scale of my bare essentials, I now have gotten back, minus one - An older stainless/laminated stock ruger 10/22 and it's gone forever out of my reach.
As I was telling my nefew last night, I'm right where I always wanted to be and anything I accuire from this point on will be directly bought straight out, no trading on what Ive worked so hard to get and to get back!
    (I hope I'm not kidding myself *again*)!!!
